Annie Hoag RN, IBCLC, CST
Lactation Consultant and Craniosacral Therapy
About Me
As a Nurse and Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC & ANLC), I have more than 20 years experience working with mothers and babies in hospital settings, free standing birth centers, home visits and virtual visits. During COVID I provided virtual visits to many families honing in on assessments in a virtual environment. I have combined my lactation practice with craniosacral therapy as a way to target some of the root problems babies may face with feeding difficulties.

My passion for working in maternal child health started in college during my clinical rotation on a labor and delivery unit, but I also had a desire to work more closely with people in the community, outside the hospital setting. I found my niche at the Nurse Midwifery Birth Center doing births, home visits, lactation visits, and a weekly baby clinic. This work led me to dig deeper on how to help infants that were struggling to breastfeed or even bottle feed. I started training in craniosacral therapy as well as other modalities in 2013 to help infants with patterns of restrictions often seen after birth. I continue to look for the best ways to help parents and infants with feeding, connecting and thriving. I now do private practice which allows me more time with each family for more individualized care.

I am focusing on providing virtual visits for lactation with and emphasis on off hour support as well as mentoring and coaching for lactation specialists.

Services
Working with an IBCLC provides the highest standard of care when it comes to feeding your baby. Certified lactation consultants go through extension training, exams and continuing education to maintain their licensing. As an IBCLC I provide evidence based guidance and support.
Home Visits
Home visits are a great way to get personalized help in the places that you will be nursing/feeding your baby the most. This takes the stress out of getting the help and attention you need as I am able to spend more time with you than an office visit may offer.

Lactation consultation
Some reasons to contact me for help might be: a painful latch, sore or damaged
nipples, poor or difficult feedings, tongue and lip tie assessment, slow weight gain, milk supply issues, weaning from a shield or bottle, mastitis, plugged ducts, pumping, returning to work, starting solids, or weaning from nursing.
Craniosacral therapy
Sometimes babies need a little more help. Craniosacral therapy is a very gentle technique that can release restrictions in the body acquired from intrauterine lie or birth. Often times CST can help with feeding issues both at the breast or with a bottle. For more information on this gentle technique click here.
